As Mandy Moore uttered these lines in 'A Walk to Remember' -
Love is always patient and kind, it's never jealous
love is never boastful nor conceited
It's never rude or selfish
It doesn't take offence n isn't resentful
Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins
But delight's in the truth
Always ready to excuse, trust, hope
And to endure whatever comes its way
Love is like the wind
You can't see it, just feel it!!!!
These words have just become words in books....
Yup, it has become a trend amongst us that we are too scared to commit or profess our love to someone. We read today about so many marriages going awry, and are scared, is that what is going to happen to us in the future? People talk so much about love and all, but isn’t this 4-letter word in the dictionary of the people we read about quarelling and abusing their spouses. I’ve seen many couples who don’t even talk to each other and often have heated arguments, dint they have love for each other? Have these instances made us more prudent than the generation before us or is it a case of getting cold feet when it comes to making the big decision?
I see couples smugging close to each other whenever I venture out and wonder, will they be as close in a decade’s time. Will they share the same level of trust and caring for each other. People say that the love decreases, decisions are taken for granted and the bondage is more like a hindrance. So what does happen that diminishes our love for a person that we couldn’t stop dreaming about once upon a time!!
The big question that arises is that do all relationships detiorate to a level where the companionship is nothing more than a comforting bond that people are afraid to sever even if they want to or is the thought of a break-up so horrifying that one would rather continue with pretences than go separate ways.
I guess the society has become so modern that it does put a lot of strain on the modern relationship than it used to, but has the concept of love and companionship died out. You ask a person out on the road whether they picture themselves with the person they love in a period in 5 years and the answer is in the negative more often than not.
I guess I get an answer to that from seeing my parents. It’s more a case of independent thinking, giving each other space and compromise that keeps the bondage together. Yes, fights are good for a relationship, but how people emerge from the ashes of their fight goes a long way in determining the strength of a relationship.
People might disagree with what I think, but I still believe that modern society has moulded us in a way that its impossible to keep a relationship going for too long and that’s what is scaring most of us to commit.
So go out and have fun coz u can rest in peace that the boy/girl next to you is just a stop gap friend and soon you’ll have to start to look for a new one!!!!!
