This poem was conjured whilst I was at a metro station waiting for a friend. The metro is right next to my place and is a source of my daily commuting. And for those, who have never had the chance to experience it, you have missed a lot.
As I waited that night
I noticed many a curious sight
Bored I was
My patience, thin as straws
Oh, I was at the metro station
As they say, the pride of our nation
Waiting for a female friend
Always late is their trend
Believe me
My experiences you got to see
I noticed the lady in the salwar suit
The guy with the black boot
The kid lugging his bag
The hunk with the arrogant tag
Oh, that girl in a hurry
Unending bags of worry
Returning from work
Cursing her boss as a jerk
The lady with the happy face
Walking with a lot of grace
Content from her shopping spree
Plastic bags from BENETTON n LEE
The man with the purple tie
Heaving many a periodic sigh
Worried about his wife
Or just hassled by life?
The dude with the spiked hair
Looking all chic and fair
Turtle-neck, khakis and sneaker
All ready for his endeavor
I couldn’t help but think
To all, is there a link?
The world’s a mix of this all
Some who may fall
Quits, many of them call
No one’s life is prefect
It’s what we prefer to select
To be happy or dull
Ah, finally there’s a lull.
And as my friend finally came
With an excuse that was lame
I couldn’t help but see
The innocent kid staring at me
Smiling with all his heart
Ah, playing a game of dart.
That is what life is
For the thousands going by
Seeing the hands of time fly
To their own small life
Back home to all their strife
And as I joined the crowd filtering out
Knowledgeable in my own self-doubt!!
